VOLUNTEER WORK
MANGROVE FOREST PLANTING
My teacher brought my friends and I to join a volunteering project with the Thai Army in planting thousands of trees in Samut Prakan Province. We had to walked so deeply into the muddy field that I could see nothing but my waist when we looked down. It was very hard for us to move around; it felt as if we were stuck in the sink hole. We got scars all over our body from mobilizing through the tree line. Those scars always remind me of this memorable experience, and they very much worth the experience. Sometimes life is not as easy as seen on TV.
SIGGRAPH ASIA 2016
The 9th ACM SIGGRAPH Conference and Exhibition on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques in Asia took place in Macao at The Venetian Macao from 5 – 8 December 2016. The annual event, which rotates around the Asian region, attracts the most respected technical and creative people from all over the world who are excited by research, science, art, animation, gaming, interactivity, education and emerging technologies. I’m so proud to be a part of SIGGRAPH ASIA 2016 Volunteers. I were one of the Thai students working in Macau on December 4-8, 2016. I had a lot of opportunities to meet new volunteer friends and everybody else who came from all over the world such as Japan, Italy, USA, Canada, and India. They are very lovely!

The Faculty of Architecture Students Musical is known as Showbee. This project requires 500 crew members to complete! When I was a freshman, I wanted to join this activity just for fun so I put my name on the directing team. I was given the assistant director position. Without a doubt, being in the directing team is the most challenging team in the project. My team and I had to work hard on prepare the actors for performance. Furthermore, I had to help my friends cooperate with the other teams such as Ticket selling team, Graphic team, Lighting team, Costume team, Makeup team and Hair team. It was an arduous task, but we put forth our best effort to make the project happen for the 3,000 audiences in the hall.

In my sophomore year, I participated in project Showbee again-this time as the project coordinator. Being a second year student required me to give advice to the freshmen: ‘How to get through difficult stuff in bringing study and activity together or How to work with other teams in musical because they are all volunteers, you have to create your own proper speaking way.’ Besides coordinating, I had all my responsibility to arranging the camp for actors which included food preparation, transportation, and accommodation.

Third year students are the most senior group of students in project Showbee. This year, I was chosen to be the Producer, the position that carries the most responsibility in the group. I have to bring out all of the ambition, intention, creativity and experience I have cultivated over the years to run the musical. Communication is one of the most important skills that can make or break a team. I cannot make a small mistake because it can cause a big problem to other people immediately. My skill set improved tremendously from over 3 years of working on these projects and preparing for Showbee. My friends and I are working so hard in making this year’s Showbee to be the most successful Showbee yet. We wish our volunteering project can be a part of everyone's memory. I hope that the crewmembers will get to know each other better. More importantly, I hope that this project will keep up the reputation of our university.
